The Makers and Shakers Market

Be a mover and a shaker at the Makers and Shakers Market this Saturday. This community event is a food and shopping lover’s dream, with more than 60 stalls offering up fine fare and beautiful homewares for the scoping. Held within the Marrickville Town Hall, you’ll find local makers who value the where, who and how of their products, keeping quality high and sourcing local.

Whether you’re looking to pick up some home-grown treasures or are just after a gourmet snack, there will be plenty to peruse, from plants, ceramics, vintage clothing to beautiful homemade food, including goodies from Smoking Gun Bagels. Doors open at 10am and guests will be required to provide a $2 coin donation for entry.

Sabores Spanish Festival

Live the good life and enjoy Spanish food, drink and entertainment like you’re living it up in Barcelona at the inaugural Sabores Spanish Festival. Live like a Spaniard for the day and enjoy a fiesta like no other, celebrating the country’s vibrant culture. Punters will find market stalls showcasing fashion, craftwork and homewares; plus, food and wine is obviously high on the agenda, with the opportunity to taste specialities like gazpacho and sample Spanish wines and olive oils. Make sure you wear your salsa dancing shoes, as there will also be entertainment that’ll get your hips swaying and an opportunity to get some insider insight on visiting Spain at the tourism desk.

If you’ve never been to an escape room before, X-Cape at the Sydney Opera House is a great one to get you started. You and your friends will crack codes and wander through a haze of lights and lasers as you find your way out of the cavernous car park under the Sydney Opera House. Sci-fi and role-play lovers will rejoice at the luna-themed adventure, pretending you’re astronomers battling to escape a black hole…

Conceptual artist and HTRK frontwoman Jonnine Standish has curated the experience, developing a dreamy soundtrack with bandmate Nigel Yang to heighten the celestial experience. This event is only for those aged over 18, but is free! Plus, it’s conveniently located just down the road from InterContinental Sydney – perfect for hotel stayers.

The Jungle Collective Indoor Plant Sale

Two young plant lovers have banded together to summon the ultimate green-lovers paradise. The Jungle Collective started in 2017 as a way to share their love of horticulture through a series of pop-up indoor plant sales and they are back again with another huge sale for this year. Visitors will trawl through 120 species of indoor plants in the lofty warehouse, with thousands of varietals like fiddle leafs, monstera, birds of paradise, peace lilies and rubber trees for sale.
