1. Mardi Gras Parade

Where: Oxford St, Darlinghurst.

When: Saturday 3 March from 7pm to 10pm

The 40th anniversary Parade looks set to be the biggest and most exciting yet, take in spectacles including a sparkling procession of jaw-dropping floats, entertaining acts and exhilarating dance music. Dykes on Bikes, outrageous drag queens, community heroes and talented queer performers will join many more LGBTQI groups and allies from all walks of life to create stunning showpieces that promote love for all.

2. Sydney Design Festival

Where: Powerhouse Museum

When: Friday 2 March to Sunday 11 March, from 10am to 9pm

Sydney Design Festival starts this weekend, with city-wide celebrations taking place all over the Harbour City. This year’s program will see international keynote presentations, design exhibitions, panel discussions and interactive workshops.

3. All About Women

Where: Sydney Opera House

When: Sunday 4 March

Powerful talks, pickling workshops and podcast masterclasses: that’s just highlights from All About Women’s sixth year. This program includes six solo talks and seven panel discussions featuring speakers from Vanity Fair contributing Editor Fran Lebowitz to the founder of the #metoo movement Tarana Burke.

4. Gadi: magura (fish) weaving workshops

Where: Australia Museum

When: Sunday 4 March

Weaving is a social and cultural practise that has been close to Aboriginal peoples hearts’ for thousands of years. On Sunday 4 March, Australian Museum is sharing this magical part of Australian history and heritage by inviting you to learn how to weave a fish from natural materials.
