The Sydney Life
The Eventful Life

Get your French fix this weekend in a celebration of France’s national day – Bastille Day – on Saturday 14 July. Each year, Sydney gets involved in the French celebration, lighting up the city with an array of markets, cinematic experiences and foodie events. It’s a great opportunity (and excuse) to immerse yourself in French culture and cuisine (hello cheese and wine!). Bastille Day in Sydney is always extravagant, so get out there and experience that ‘Viva La France’ feeling!

Bastille French Festival at The Rocks

Between 12 and 15 July, The Rocks will be celebrating all things French with their annual festival – arguably the biggest Bastille celebration in the city.

Food and wine lovers will be in heaven with the array of pop-up market stalls dishing out French cuisine, such as crepes, raclette and fondue. Punters will bite into fresh baguettes, sample some of the best imported cheese and savour some traditional French cakes for an unmissable food experience.

This is by far the ultimate French culinary street festival not to be missed.

In a theatrical 15 metre 360-degree dome, festival-goers will embrace the ‘all you can eat’ mantra at this 90-minute immersive experience that will instantly transport diners to the French Alps.

Inside The Cheese Dome, you will have to order in French (but don’t worry, all the key phrases will be written out to help you along).

At dusk, the Christmas spirit will take over the streets with wooden chalets being erected and set up with an array of swoony-worthy pop-up Christmas stores, food and more. There will also be mood-setting Christmas carols suffusing the air, plus warming mulled wine and gifting ideas on offer.
