Father’s Day is a special opportunity to celebrate the man who raised you – and we have plenty of ideas on just how to celebrate! As 3rd of September approaches, consider an alternative to the usual socks and ties and treat Dad with the gift of quality time.

Below, we let you in on five unique and impressive ways to ensure your Dad not only feels your love but genuinely enjoys his day.

1.      Seafood Buffet at Cafe Opera.

They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach and Cafe Opera is sure to win him over.

Renowned as Sydney’s definitive buffet, it showcases some of the best Australian seasonal produce available, including a smorgasbord of market-fresh prawns, oysters, mussels and fish. There is also a carvery, a range of hot and cold international dishes, artisanal tapas and salad bars. Throw waistline worries to the wind as you dive into a library of desserts guaranteed to give him the sweetest of memories.

The Father’s Day buffet is available for lunch and dinner on 3 September and priced from $79 per person. Book here.

2.      Explore the Ku-ring-gai National park.

For the more adventurous Dads, a short 40 minute drive from the city lands you in Ku-ring-gai National Park, where you can spend quality time connecting with each other and your natural surrounds.

A number of the walking trails also feature ancient aboriginal rock art and engravings of the Guringai people. Find yourselves surrounded by native bushland, flora and fauna, singing native birds) as you explore the great Australian landscape.

Tip: The West Head Lookout is a stunning spot for a picnic with some of Sydney’s best views, from Hawkesbury River to Lion Island, right up to Central Coast‘s Patonga Beach.

3.      White-water Rafting at Penrith Stadium.

The road trip alone would be bonding enough, especially with a carefully crafted playlist.

1.5 hours from the CBD lands you at the Penrith White-water Stadium- a purpose built Olympic park now open to the public for a thrilling day of rushing waters and precarious balancing acts from the safety of a rubber raft.

Perfect for the adrenaline-seeker, prepare to make a splash with a 90 minute escapade, soaking up long-lasting memories.

Tip: Minimum age for this experience is 12 years. We also advise bringing a wetsuit or hiring one there.

4.      Tapas and Cocktails at Supper Club.

If a Sunday get-together isn’t on the cards, perhaps an intimate catch up over tapas and cocktail (Old-Fashioned, anyone?) is more his game.

Imagine his reaction as you take him into a private elevator to the exclusive Supper Club on Level 32, treating him to awe-inspiring views of the Harbour icons and the glittering northern and eastern suburb skyline in the background!

The tapas board for two features Jamon Serrano from La Boqueria and Australian Triple Brie cheese, lavosh, quince and other condiments.

The cocktails are of your choice from the menu, though Bars Manager John Toubia is an expert in creativity so if you know dad’s poison (or need help inventing one), be sure to wave him down to get his advice.

Supper Club is open from 8pm until late Thursday-Saturday nights. The tapas and two cocktails package is $75. Book in here.

5.      Yoga From The Sky at Sydney Tower Eye.

Perhaps the weekend is a challenge? See Sydney from new heights with a sunrise session of Hatha yoga held at Sydney Tower Eye’s Observation Deck.

Held on Wednesday mornings from 6.45am, the 45-minute class takes participants on a journey through a mindful and restorative stretch class. The best part? The 360 degree views of the Harbour City paired with an unforgettable class run by renowned instructor Sasha Hawley of Yoga by the Sea.
